Matthew

Matthew is a 51-year-old man, originally from Northern Ireland. Matthew had a difficult childhood. He grew up in extreme poverty, experienced physical and psychological abuse, parental alcohol misuse, and witnessed political violence.

Matthew started drinking at a young age and has been dependent on alcohol for most of his adult life. Matthew struggles to control his emotions. Social interaction is difficult, and often results in outbursts of anger and aggression. He has a substantial history of offending and street homelessness.

Terrance

Terrance presented with longstanding and remarkably entrenched problems with alcohol. At the point of first involvement with our services, he had undergone numerous but unsuccessful emergency hospital detoxifications. Following discharge from hospital, Terrance would immediately relapse. He was also a high profile street drinker with a history of challenging antisocial behaviour.

Reece

Reece is a Lewisham client. Late 20’s male who has a history of prolific violent offences and ongoing mental health issues. You First started working with him when the NHS service that had been addressing his mental health had to stop seeing him as he no longer fit their criteria but they were extremely keen for our service to work with him and could not speak more highly about him.

Nathan

Nathan image

Nathan has an extensive history of offending - with 58 convictions and 95 offences with ten of those occurring in 2014. His first offence dated back to 1977. Nathan is a proud, independent man who has had various jobs in construction and in the NHS in his early adult life. However he sustained a head injury on a building site in the 1980’s and was deemed to be unfit for work. This is when his life changed and his difficulties began.
